Silk Kimono obi sash for wearing or for dining table runner

Silk kimono obi sash for wearing, or for use as a bright and light-refracting table runner. At 4.5 meters long, it can span even large dining tables that seat 8-10 guests.

Fashioned in Japan's kimono capital of Kyoto by artisans who create silk accessories for the centuries-old kimono industry. Made in a popular "Matsu to Kumo" (pine and cloud) motif with bright colors that catch the light and seem to radiate the color of the Sun.

This item is a former display unit, and has a thin blemish (about 3cm: see photos) on one edge, which makes in unsellable in the demanding quality-control standards of the kimono industry.

Similar silk "obi" from Kyoto in Grade A condition may cost more than 1,000$US. Due to the blemish on the edge, we were able to bargain with the wholesaler and we now offer this silk sash at a fraction of what you would normally pay.

Some  decorators will think of using this obi in a frame as a wall installation. If you wish to do this, please use heavy frame and wall mounts as the heavy backing weighs more than one kilogram.

Dimensions:

4.5 meters length X 31cm width.

Weight: 1,020gr.

Heavy oyster-colored backing with inventory number and Japanese "pine" design identification. This item is made to last for many years, and may be passed on to future generations for special anniversaries.

This is not a mass-produced item. At present there is only one in stock, available to the first buyer!

For cleaning of the silk material, please consult a professional cleaning business and remind them that the woven silk face has a sturdy cloth backing.
